Tom Erickson, Rail Cents' proprietor, is a generalist with broad experience in multiple railroad disciplines: marketing & rail pricing, operations, regulations, finance, and administration.  Rail Cents can fully explore complex opportunities and bring viable options to light.  Railroading is an idiosyncratic industry where it is important to identify collateral effects in advance in order to achieve results without unintended consequences.

Class I RR Negotiations

Railroads speak a language of their own when it comes to switching service, rates, demurrage bills, empty equipment, responsibility for track upkeep, and new spurs.  Tom speaks that language.

Due Diligence for Privatization

Tom has been a team member for initiatives to  privatize and reinvigorate government-owned railroads in South American, Central America, Africa, and Europe.   

Short Line Start-up

Tom has been a key player in 4 short line start-ups in the U.S.  He is experienced in finding baseload traffic, negotiating right-of-way instruments, and composing applications for Federal Railroad Administration certifications such as those for engineers and conductors.
